MAGDALENE by FKA TWIGS LP PACKAGING
TYPE-ONLY SOLUTIONS FOR LP PACKAGING DESIGN FOR FKA TWIGS' 2019 ALBUM "MAGDALENE". I AIMED TOWARDS COMBINING THE BIBLICAL THEMES OF THE ALBUM AS WELL AS THE ARTIST’S AVANT-POP "ALIEN" VISUAL STYLE.
I was tasked with designing 50 type-only posters based on a song of our choice. I chose the song ‘home with you’ on
Twigs’ album ‘Magdalene.’ This project later evolved into this vinyl packaging project and helped inform many of
my decisions in designing these LP sleeves. I tried to find a way to bring the ethereal and feminine together with the alien
and sci-fi (seen in Twigs’ art-pop style) to represent an artist that perfectly balances the two
aesthetics. On the left are some exploratory posters that I made for this packaging project.
Stamp Type Experiment
I used individually cut out stamps to create lettering to
create a three-dimensional layered effect.
